A thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure that lifts and tightens sagging facial tissue using absorbable sutures. Barbed or smooth threads are inserted beneath the skin to physically lift tissue and stimulate collagen production for ongoing improvement.
Three main thread materials are used: PDO (polydioxanone) — absorbed in 6-8 months with results lasting 1-2 years; PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) — stronger collagen stimulation lasting 2-3 years; and PCL (polycaprolactone) — the longest-lasting option with results up to 3-4 years.
