RF (radiofrequency) microneedling combines two technologies: traditional microneedling that creates micro-channels in the skin, and radiofrequency energy delivered through the needle tips at controlled depths (0.5-4mm). The RF heats the dermis to ~60-70°C, triggering significant collagen remodeling and tissue tightening that standard microneedling cannot achieve.
Branded systems include Morpheus8, Genius RF, Vivace, and Secret RF. Treatment is more aggressive than non-RF microneedling: 1-3 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart, with 3-7 days of redness and pinpoint scabbing afterward. Results continue building for 3-6 months as collagen remodels. Particularly effective for moderate skin laxity, acne scars, stretch marks, and submental laxity. RF energy can be delivered safely in darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick I-VI) where standard ablative lasers are risky.
